Bruce M. Belzowski

Bruce M. Belzowski, Associate Director and Assistant
Research Scientist, received his B.A. and M.A. from
the University of California, Berkeley and the University
of Michigan, respectively. He worked for the Institute
for Social Research at the University of Michigan and
R. L. Polk before joining UMTRI in 1994.
At UMTRI, he has authored or
co-authored research reports focusing on a variety
of automotive topics including product development,
manufacturer-supplier-dealer relations, globalization,
information technology, knowledge management, and
human resources. His current research topics include
powertrain strategies and globalization of the automotive
industry. He is co-director of UMTRI’s
China Automotive Program and Powertrain Strategies
Program.
A member of the Society of
Automotive Analysts and the Society of Automotive
Engineers, Mr. Belzowski’s
automotive consulting work has included presentations
to manufacturer, supplier, and dealer groups in the
US, Mexico, Europe, and Japan. He has also worked with
major automotive consulting firms on supplier assessments
and community automotive strategies. His interest in
globalization comes from his work with international
automotive researchers at the University of Evry in
France (GERPISA). His chapter about Chrysler as an
industrial automotive model has been published in the
book entitled One Best Way?, published by Oxford University
Press.
